Government funding for children aged 2, 3 and 4

Government funding for children aged 2, 3 and 4

We understand that covering the cost of childcare can be challenging. We’re proud to support families at Sunny Days by offering government funding to all 3 and 4-year olds and any eligible 2-year olds.

The government funding scheme was introduced in 2010, offering 15 hours free childcare per week during term time to children aged 3 and 4. In 2013 the law changed to allow eligible 2-year olds to benefit from funded childcare.

In 2017, the number of hours was doubled for eligible 3 and 4-year olds, meaning some families could benefit from 30 hours funded childcare per week across the school term. The funding supports a child’s development and improves their education attainment, preparing for further education.

In addition to the benefits for children, the scheme helps parents manage childcare costs, making childcare more affordable and supporting working patterns. We understand that every family is different and flexibility is essential. We pride ourselves on being flexible, helping families in the best and most efficient ways we can.

Government funding is available in all three of our nurseries. We would be happy to provide further information on the scheme, explain how it works and answer any questions which you may have.
