Nursery Manager – North Wiltshire (Calne)

About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week), leading the daily operations of our Calne nursery. We would consider a job share /reduced hours role for the right candidate. You will be fully supported by an Area Manager and a strong team, while also having the freedom to shape the setting in line with your vision for outstanding care and education.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining exceptional standards of safeguarding, safety, and statutory compliance (EYFS, Ofsted, GDPR, H&S).
• Leading and developing a motivated, reflective staff team through coaching and supervision.
• Driving high-quality early years education, ensuring inclusive practice for all children, including those with SEN.
• Building meaningful, trusting relationships with parents and carers.
• Taking ownership of occupancy, tours, marketing, and operational excellence.

About You

We’re looking for someone who can step straight into the role and lead with confidence:

• Minimum Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification (essential).
• Proven experience in a Nursery Manager role (or equivalent strong leadership role).
• Sound knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and statutory compliance.
• A professional, approachable style and the ability to inspire, support, and hold a team accountable.
• A genuine passion for providing outstanding early years experiences and continuous improvement.

About the Role:

This is ideally a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week) although we would consider reduced hours for the right candidate. You will support the Nursery Manager and Area Manager in the day to day running of our busy nursery providing an excellent standard of childcare. You will play a pivotal role in leading the team whilst maintaining exceptional standards of safeguarding and safety whilst conforming to all statutory compliance (EYFS, Ofsted, GDPR, H&S).

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Nursery Manager in the overall management of the nursery
• Lead, motivate, and support staff to deliver outstanding practice
• Ensure the highest standards of care, learning, and safeguarding
• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Assist with staff supervision, training, and development
• Ensure compliance with EYFS and Ofsted requirements
• Step in to manage the nursery in the Manager’s absence

Our ideal candidate will:

• Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years/Childcare
• Previous experience in a senior role within a nursery setting
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Sound knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding procedures
• Have a positive and friendly disposition with a good sense of humour
• Have good communication skills with sound IT knowledge.
• A positive, proactive, and approachable attitude
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Sunny Days Children’s Nursery is a unique and independent day nursery seeking dedicated and enthusiastic  Early Years Practitioners to join our busy team. Due to our increasing numbers, we are now recruiting qualified professionals to join our busy teams based in Calne and Lyneham in Wiltshire. 

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Preferably qualified to NVQ Level 3
• Educated to GCSE or equivalent
• Proven experience of at least 2 years in a similar role.
• Sound knowledge of the EYFS and current Ofsted regulations
   

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Maintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people within the setting.
• Deliver a consistently high standard of EY learning and teaching in line with the nursery ethos, policies and curriculum.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained.
